Path of Miracles by Toby Talbot
Path of Miracles is, quite simply, a 21st-century classic. Commissioned by Tenebrae in 2005, the piece takes its inspiration from the Camino de Santiago, the great pilgrimage route across France and Spain to Santiago de Compostela, the final resting place of St James. It is no ordinary journey, consisting as it does of physical hardship, mental endurance and spiritual resolve, and this is no ordinary piece; richly scored in 17 parts plus percussion, the music encompasses everything from plainsong to minimalism, woven through with musical mysticism and drama. This will be an all-encompassing performance, as the music shifts and turns, surrounding the audience from all sides. Join Nonsuch Singers and our conductor Tom Bullard for a performance not to be missed.
